Dr David M. Smith, the Director of the Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB), and Dr Ivanka Jerić, Deputy Director and Project Coordinator for O- ZIP, today visited the construction site of the Martinska Research Station, accompanied by the Project Construction Manager, Mr Damir Ivšić, and representatives of the team of consultants led by Mr Nino Kovačić.
It was confirmed that the construction work is progressing according to plan and the Director expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with the contractors and the expert supervision at the site.
Construction work on the Martinska Research Station started in December last year, as agreed in the contract. The total contract value is 5,188,957.84 Croatian kuna (including VAT). The planned completion of the project is September 2022.
The aim of the renovation of the Martinska Research Station, which is part of the O-ZIP project, is to strengthen the capacity for sustainable development and management of the Adriatic karst coastal area in accordance with national legislation and EU directives.
